Key to Better Health – Love through Appreciation!

  • Posted by: Yvonne Longmatey

Do you know you can show love to others through appreciation? Your coworker, your friend, family member, or even the stranger at the cash register who helps to check out your groceries at the store can benefit from your show of love through appreciation. This is a month of love. Do your best to go beyond the kind of love you share with your spouse. Whether it is friends, family, or the “unfamiliar”, endeavor to show some love through your actions. You can appreciate someone through what you say or do around them. Some people may never know how much you care until you let them know how much you appreciate them. Challenge yourself this month. Try to stretch yourself a little more to make a difference in the life of someone. No one is perfect, but there is some good in everyone and you can help to uncover that good. Always look for the good in people you interact with. And don’t stop there; go beyond to genuinely express what you appreciate about them.

No one is promised tomorrow, so make today count! Let someone know you care and appreciate them today. William Arthur Ward once said, Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. Let nothing hold you back. Be intentional in appreciating the people around you. Make some effort to put the spotlight on someone other than yourself. You have no idea the difference this can make in someone’s life. Make someone happy!

There is an indirect reward for you when you genuinely express appreciation and love. Your health will benefit through your appreciation of the people around you. Your goodwill towards others will bring you happiness, and in turn, stimulate the secretion of endorphins within your body. I call endorphins the “feel good hormones” in my book Healthy Me: Discovering Personal Health & Healing Naturally. Endorphins are a key player in the journey of wellness.

Stop and look out for someone today! Appreciate the people around you. This will bring you much happiness in return, and your health will benefit from this noble action.

Wishing you great health and happiness!
