Raw Ground Beef Recall

April 23rd 2019: According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), K2D Foods, doing business as (DBA) Colorado Premium Foods, a Carrolton, GA. business, is recalling approximately 113,424 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O103. These were shipped to distributors in Norcross, GA, and Port Orange, FL, for further distribution to restuarants. Restaurants that bought these are being asked to trash them or return purchase.

Recommended Actions to Take:

  • Check details of recall with FSIS and status updates.
  • Avoid ordering meals containing ground beef at restaurants until FSIS provides status updates that indicate safety to do so.
  • Throw out any meats you may have that fall within specifications of recall.
  • Note symptoms of E.Coli Infection: May include diarrhea (often bloody), severe stomach cramps, vomiting, and occasionally, a low-grade fever, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Symptoms generally show within three to four days of exposure to the bacteria.
